Ever visited a hip market but left despondent and starving because your dietary requirements weren’t met?

Not this one- bring on the Halaal Goods Market!

A one of a kind and first of it's kind, the Halaal Goods Market is an artisanal halaal food and Design Market in Johannesburg, South Africa where you can find awesome halaal food and drink as well as interesting design goods and is open to all. They've scoured the home industries, pop-ups and small businesses to curate the best connoisseurs in the Halaal industry and set to have their first market on the 29 and 30th July and thereafter bi-monthly.

If you are wondering who is the Founder and Creator of this amazing initiative, it is an incredible South African Muslima Fehmida Jordaan or more lovingly known as @fehmz on social media.

An already established Social influencer, amazing cook and creator of Fehmz Mocktails, this multi talented Muslima is Creativity on steroids!

We caught up with Fehmz to find out what's the Halaal Goods Market all about and what inspired her towards this amazing initiative.

◆  Fehmz, Tell us a little about the Halaal Goods Market?
It is the first artisanal halaal food and Design Market in SA. It is a market that is envisioned to happen every two months inshaallah and serves Halaal food and drink as well as interesting design goods but is open to all. It is aimed at broadening the market offering of Halaal food and unique goods to communities that transcend the "muslim" barrier and embraces all.

◆ What inspired you to start something like this?
As someone who is in a love affair with food and an academic background in design specializing in designing for events, it has always been a dream to have an event where I could use my knowledge of both to start a market that is different and much needed. The hardest thing we always find is finding Halaal food at the weekend markets we go to, and this aims to address that and open up our offering to the larger community.

◆  What can one look forward to when visiting the Halaal Goods Market and what products can one find?
Food, food and more food as well as wonderful design goods. We have a range of food from savory to sweet. The traditional samoosas to sushi bars, cakes to gourmet popcorn and freshly rolled ice cream scrolls.

Sounds amazing!
